Those of you who have been following Wisdom and Life understand my challenge with finding a spiritual home that I’m comfortable in.  I’ve attended Catholic Mass on numerous occasions.  When younger I went to Saint Mark Lutheran Church in Norwich, Connecticut with my maternal grandparents; yet I never felt as if I belonged in either place.  Even when I was young, I felt out of place in religion.  It wasn’t that I didn’t believe. On the contrary, as I’ve said here countless times, my faith is what carried me through all the obstacles I faced growing up.  Were it not for my deep conviction in God, I sincerely don’t know how I would have survived.  My faith has never wavered.

I just haven’t found a place where I felt comfortable enough to make a commitment.

Until I came across The Shoreline Unitarian Society.  From the moment I left the first service, I KNEW I found my home.  I knew, because a few months before I came across Rob Bell’s Book:
Love Wins and after reading it, I FINALLY understood the spiritual place I belonged.  As I stated in the above linked column at Wisdom and Life, there is some debate about whether Mr Bell is a Universalist.  However if you read Love Wins then direct your attention to Unitarian Belief, I think you may come away with the same knowledge that I did:
That Rob Bell does indeed hold many Unitarian values.

I went every week for about six months two years ago, then, life interrupted and I stopped going.  Then, the week before Christmas, 2015, I decided to return and I’ve re-committed myself to attending every week.  If you don’t know much about Unitarian belief, I highly recommend looking into the belief system.  Reading some of what they believe.  You can find info at UUA.org.  You may find yourself connecting with much of their paradigm.

The ONLY thing I kind of find lacking is any talk of God.  I understand why.  It’s because Unitarianism is non denominational.  That lack is not enough to keep me away however. At least not at the moment.  There is so much more that keeps me returning.  Maybe you’ll feel the same way.
