Do you remember growing up and your family telling you you weren’t studying enough? You weren’t applying yourself? If you didn’t do well, how did expect to get into college? Did you want to spend your life pumping gas?

I’m sure we all have stories like that.

Did you wind up pumping gas? I bet not!

I’m here to tell you that the major parameters of your life have already been mapped out before you even arrive as a physical being; which is not to say you can’t change certain aspects of your life. What I’m saying is, that you’ll find your place in this world. Don’t let anyone deter you from your goals.

If you have a talent whether it be writing, art, dance, vocal ability, whatever it is, chances are that was a gift given to you, just like my faith was a gift given to me, just like writing was a gift given to me. Your task while here is to find a way to use that gift to give back.

It’s interesting now when I look back over the course of my life. I spent a good many years beginning during the time I was in high school writing, mostly short stories. I never really found the success I was looking for. It wasn’t for lack of trying. You can ask my friend, Tim who checks in here every day. I stopped several years ago because I no longer had the impetus to write. I guess what they say is true though:
Once a writer; always a writer.

I find myself returning to it now and with a greater purpose this time. Now that I’m writing this blog and this post specifically I’m having an epiphany even as I’m writing at this very moment.

Your task while here is to find a way to use that gift to give back.

Duh!!! LOL

I FINALLY found a way to use BOTH of the gifts given to me. This blog is my way of giving back, both sharing my faith and my writing. Another example of things coming to you when you’re ready. I wasn’t ready earlier in my life to share my thoughts.

I sort of fell of topic here. I hope you’ll forgive me. Everyone has something they’re good at. Your task is to discover that talent and put it to use in your career. That’s how to live a fulfilling life. If you’ve discovered your gift, don’t let anyone influence you to stop pursuing your dreams. You may have to detour a bit as I did. I started out in love with books and wanting to write. As it turned out I stayed in the book field, working in a public library. My friend, Tim who I mentioned above discovered his gift early as well and he is continuing to follow his bliss. Good for you, Tim!

If you want a happy and fulfilling life, don’t let anyone stand in your way of following your dreams. If you found the gift that you were blessed with before arriving here, then it is your duty to pursue it. You’ll never work a day in your life if you pursue your gift.

Ask Mark Brewer, another friend of mine. Through high school his talent as cartoonist was evident. He didn’t let anyone stand in his way. Now he’s a well known illustrator and political cartoonist. He’s giving back and I bet he doesn’t work a day in his life either.

That’s your goal. Find your talent. Find your gift and pursue it.
