A man knows when he has found his vocation when he stops thinking about how to live and begins to live.

Thomas Merton is a recurring theme at Wisdom and Life
as can be seen from the preceding link.  Merton has long been one of my favorite resources not just for Wisdom and Life but for my life in general.  My friend and fellow blogger, Jean Wise at Healthy Spirituality shared a Merton Quote on Facebook last week and that brought me around to thinking that I haven’t shared Thomas Merton lately myself.

One of the resources I keep for all my blogs is a list of quotes for Wisdom and Life, upcoming books to review for Scranton Page Turner and thoughts for CJP Photo News.  On Friday afternoon I looked through my quotes list for Wisdom and Life and came across Merton’s quote above.

I’ve been fortunate to have had found my rhythm in many areas.

–Computer Tech
Before I was hired at the Scranton Library in Madison, Connecticut I had a one man tech business.  Over 200 clients.

–Social Media
I have roughly 10 clients at the moment.  I help them with marketing online.

Setting up social media sites

When I’m helping people I get in the flow.  Feels so amazing to love what you do.

–Photography

Another passion where I’ve been able to convert that passion into abundance.
–Writing
Writing has always been my long term goal.  It was my first ambition and it has turned into another abundance maker for me.

There’s nothing better than finding your passion and being able to convert that into abundance.  Some of us never find it.  I have an abundance of passions that bring me into that flow.

Thomas Merton is correct:
When you find what you love and are able to turn that into a vocation, that’s when you REALLY start to live.

That’s when you stop worrying about the future and stay in the present moment.  It’s only when you are doing what you love that all other stress disappears.  Nothing challenging can remain if you stay in the present moment.

How do you stay in the present moment?
By doing what you love.

Have you converted your passion into vocation yet?

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Chris

Once you realize that life is eternal,
That our souls our eternal,
That we return to light and physical over and over;

We then lose all our distress
We then lose all our fear of dying.  For there truly is no end.

Thomas Merton’s words are spot on, Chris! Yes, I’m living my passion, and feeling so blessed to be able to do so.
    Thanks for this inspiration today!

  2. Jean Wise

Thanks for the mention, Chris. I really like how you take Merton’s wisdom and gain personal insight. He was quite a writer and inspiration, isn’t he?
