The Dog Whisperer

Was flipping through Comcast one day last week and stopped on Nat Geo Wild to give Cesar Millan’s The Dog Whisperer a try.  Don’t know if any of my readers have ever seen his show on National Geographic Channel, what I found extremely fascinating about the show was how much he spoke about being in the now.  Being present.

After watching several episodes I see how this practice translates to dog ownership.  I can clearly see how being in the now can help dogs and their humans develop a strong bond.  Something else I’ve heard Mr Millan state is when you’re looking for a rescue dog and you visit a shelter, don’t show despair, don’t show grief at the dogs experience being in the shelter because the dogs will pick up that energy.

Wow!  There’s that word:
Energy

It’s the context that caught me the first time I heard Mr Millan use it.   Where have we heard that context?  And where have we used it?

I’m always surprised when something I’ve been practicing myself and ONLY seeing it in a specific way, then when I start seeing it practiced outside my purview; I’m taken aback, because it seems alien when someone else uses the practice to enhance a completely different aspect of their lives.

I’ve always thought of “being in the now” as a spiritual experience and never seen it used outside that narrow scope.  I think it is so important to use these tools outside the natural experience.  It brings focus to them.  It lights the way for others to experience these tools.

More ripples to expand.
More layers to peel back.

When different people are exposed to these ideals, they will expand their minds and if even one of them who watched Cesar Millan mention “being in the now” looks deeper into that, perhaps picking up Eckhart Tolle’s Power of Now, then there’s been another circle navigated.

Have you seen an example of something you’ve been practicing and ONLY seen it in a strictly narrow view, then suddenly seen it break out into a more public arena?  How did that make you feel?

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
