Highest Tribute To The Dead

The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.

Okay, I’m sure you’ve heard of the practice of opening a book to a page, ANY page and you’ll find what you need.  Something you need to practice, something you need to devote yourself to for that hour, that day, that time period.

I do this occasionally and I did it today Wednesday, December 15.  I picked up one of my inspirations for writing this blog.  I opened to the following quote
The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.

Scratching my head.  If there’s one thing I’m always aware of it’s that we owe those who have gone before us a debt of gratitude.  I practice the adage of never speaking ill of the dead and I always pass it on.  So what is this telling me?  Maybe it’s simply a reminder.  We all need to be nudged occasionally.  When someone passes, there should be a celebration of the life that went before it.  There’s a television series I’m watching on the Bio Channel called:
I Survived… Beyond and Back about people who have passed and returned after long minutes of being dead.  In the episode linked above, there is one story of a man who crashed his motorcycle.  In the recounting of his story, he said that now when he hears that someone has passed over, he thinks, Lucky Bastard, you’re going home.

There have been two episodes so far and I’ve seen both.  The linked one above is very moving.  Check it out if you have an hour to kill.

Don’t grieve for the dead!  For they are in a far better place and they’ll be back again as will you.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
