It must be contagious. Being around my friend who is hurt who is finding the gifts and blessings in the injury must be rubbing off on me. Getting hurt like she did would surely knock most people off their pedestal for a brief time.
She sees the gift that the accident is. It’s making her slow down physically. Her intellectual and emotional self is still racing at mach speed. (Mach speed is her phrase.) Before her injury, she certainly did race at mach speed. But this injury has MADE her slow down. She sees that. So many opportunities have come her way since she was incapacitated and she truly sees these as gifts from the universe.
Something happened to me on Monday when I went to visit her in the morning. I had just pulled into her driveway and my phone rang. I took my car keys out of the ignition and put them on the passenger seat beside me. I then reached into my pocket and pulled out my Blackberry. Answered the phone, spoke for a few minutes. Put the phone back, engaged the power locks stepped out of my vehicle and closed the door.
What did I forget?
OH MY GOD!
I patted down my pockets. Then whipped around and saw my car keys sitting on the passenger seat, right where I left them. Needless to say, I was angry. I dropped a few “F” Bombs. But once I did that I tried to center myself. My friend, Rachel arrived a few minutes later to help our injured friend. She suggested I call my insurance company. I might have roadside assistance.
I DID! There was going to be no charge to unlock my door.
Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
That was the blessing in getting locked out of my car. I NOW know I have roadside assistance, free of charge. I owe my injured friend BIG time. She’s contagious. Anyone need help finding the gift in adversity? Give me a shout and I can give you some of my friend’s air.
Be Happy! Be Well! Be Positive!
