What would you discover if you remembered to ask What if? What if you slept? And what if in your sleep you dreamed? And what if in your dream, you went to heaven and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if when you awoke you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?
Wow! I can go in so many directions with this quote.
–Dreams?
–Faith?
–Asking What if? Let’s see if I can pull this off. Let me know. One of my mantras has always been that I wouldn’t wake up one day disappointed that I didn’t do what I wanted with my life. I wasn’t going to say:
Shoulda. Woulda. Coulda. And I haven’t. I’ve set out to do everything I wanted without regard to what anyone else has said. I wanted to write from a young age, and even though I met with opposition I wrote and have been published in the small press. I proved to everyone, but MOSTLY to myself that I could succeed. What if I curled up in a ball and listened to the naysayers? I wasn’t going to let that happen. When I went back to school 20 years ago… (WOW! Hard to see that written, 20 years that is.) Time marches on. …and decided I wanted to study Library Science, several people asked what I was going to do with a Library Science degree. I KNEW, as I have a built in radar system, that can foresee events before they happen, that I would be hired at my local library. What if I listened to those who asked what I was going to do with a Library Science degree? I wasn’t going to let that happen.Listen and act on your own What if’s. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your What if plans. If you suddenly wake up one morning with a What if thought, don’t brush it aside. A few months ago, a friend of mine planted a What if seed in my mind and we’ve been working on watching it sprout. The seed is beginning to break through the ground and it’s been amazing seeing the green leaves start to grow.NEVER let someone or something dissuade you from your own What if.
