Finding Our Own Path

We all enter the arena of awareness differently, it doesn’t matter how we get there or how long it takes.

From January 24, 2011

Spirituality, faith a belief in something greater than ourselves?  As the above quote says, it doesn’t matter how each of us gets there.  It doesn’t matter how long it takes.  The journey is what’s important.  Perhaps some of you, like me, have always had a deep seeded faith, a belief that you are protected, that you are watched over from above.  Maybe, like me you’ve never doubted your spirituality.  Never feared you were left behind.  Maybe you carry on a daily conversation with God as you understand him.  Maybe you always have.  If this is true then you should count yourself as one of the fortunate.

Before I go further I want to reiterate something I’ve said here before.  When I talk about God, I don’t mean the religious God.  I understand that some of you are uncomfortable when I say the word God.  But you can substitute that word for something you feel more comfortable with:
Universe
Higher Power
Spirit.

Whatever moves you.  Who do you seek when you pray?  That’s the word to use.  I use God because it’s who I pray to.

Maybe, however, you’re still seeking that connection.  Maybe you see others who have it and wish you could find it.  Keep searching.  Try different methods to get there.  Meditate. Okay now you want to know how to meditate.  But Chris, you’re saying, I can’t meditate.  I can’t find that place in my soul to become quiet.

I used to think that too.  Ya know what?  I was wrong.  I try to mediate at least three times a week.  I’ve found it easy to get to that quiet place now because I do it so frequently. Meditating is a way for me to relax after a day of racing.  I don’t necessarily need to do it to find my spirituality because my faith walks alongside me every day.  It does remind me though that faith and spirituality is an important part of my life and meditating keeps me centered, keeps that faith in focus.

Everyone can become still.  Listen to instrumental music, dim your lights and close your eyes.  Sit in a comfortable chair and simply be.  Read a book to relax.  Turn off everything, the television, the computer, the lights.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is once you start.  Yes, it might be difficult the first few times.  Stick with it.  As with anything, the more you do something, the easier it will become.

Maybe a challenging situation has arisen in your life and you don’t know who to turn to.  Maybe you’ve exhausted all the physical things you can think of that could help.  Maybe none of those things fixed you.  Where else can you turn?

Reach out to the spiritual.  It may sound silly for someone who never felt spiritual before.  Spirit/The Universe/God does not condemn, does not ask:
Where have you been all your life?

That’s a human question.  Spirit will welcome you anytime you reach out.  It doesn’t matter how you get there.  It doesn’t matter how long it takes.  The journey is what matters.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!

Chris
