What is Divine Light?

Like the real estate mantra:
Location! Location! Location!
Lighting to a photographer is one of the most important features to take into consideration when out with your camera. Without proper lighting your photography will be anything from ho hum to horrible. It’s why you should avoid mid day photography. You’ll wind up blowing out all of your images with too much glare or all of work will be washed out.
My favorite time to shoot? That would be around the time the above photo was taken:
October in mid afternoon.
There’s something about October with the sun’s position in the sky that brings out the lighting differently, somehow more vibrantly, yet also in subtler tones then other times of the year. Sunsets are sharper, more colorful. You’ll see me out with my camera more frequently in October. Like I said:

One of the things I look for when I photography by the water is the effect of seeing light emanating from clouds and showering the water. I believe it’s a spiritual message. I call it:
God’s Light
The above photo is a perfect example of this phenomenon. The effect works best over water. The image above is framed and matted and hanging in my bedroom. It’s one of the first things I see when I wake up in the morning and one of the last things I see before turning off my light before going to sleep at night. It’s another of my favorite photos, only because it reflects my spirituality.
Getting this shot was another example of being in the right place at the right time. God/Source/Divinity always puts me in the right place. My photography eye is always working anyway. I no longer look at the world in the same way since I’ve taken up a camera. I’m scanning the place I’m in for photography opportunities and I store the information away, so that I can come back with my camera. I’m sure my fellow photographers will say the same thing. I think photographers in general see the world differently. I know I do.
I’ve been fortunate to see this effect MANY times and EVERY time it appears I stop what I’m doing and marvel at the sheer beauty of the tunnels of light streaming through the openings in the clouds. It almost seems as if windows are being flung open in the sky to let the sunlight stream down. Could it be the divine? What do you think? Would love to hear from you.
