God is the electricity and we are the lamps.
Another quote from the movie Living Luminaries. One of the things Ron at Avant Garde does before showing his movies is he watches them several times to pick out quotes that resonate, then he types them up. I pulled out my Blackberry the moment I heard this quote and opened my text pad, even though I knew that Ron did this for us I wanted to make doubly sure I had this quote.
As it turned out the quote was typed up for us.
What does the quote above mean to me? God is the power but unless we turn HIM on he won’t do us any good. We can have electricity but unless we take advantage of it by using it we may as well not have it at all.
I find it ironic that as I sit here writing about electricity there is a VERY real possibility that I’ll lose it sometime tomorrow (Sunday, August 28, 2011). As most of you who follow my blog should know by this time, I continue to write my blogs well in advance of their postings. I’m VERY cognizant of this hurricane that is bearing down on Connecticut tonight and tomorrow. I want to make sure that next week’s blogs (September 5-September 9) are written and post published.
Are you taking advantage of God?
Do you turn him on?
Do you listen when he speaks?
How else do you turn God on?
Spiritual reading?
Biblical reading?
Meditation?
If you want to seek God but don’t know where to start, start by finding solitude. Turn off all the noise and simply be. Listen for God in the silence. You may be surprised at the deafening voice you hear.
Be Happy! Be Well! Be Positive!
Blessings to you.
