This mist, this cloud, this darkness into which we all go, transcending knowledge is the path below which your face cannot be found except veiled; but it is that very darkness which reveals your face is there, beyond all veils.

What do you think Nicholas of Cusa is referring to when he discusses this mist, this darkness?  My thoughts go to transition to the non physical.  Do you agree?  If you look at the words he chooses in this quote, you can clearly see why I would consider that is what is referencing.  After all, the words he chose are synonyms for transition, for death:

All of these are another way of looking at the negative word, death.  I’m sure you’ve heard it said that death is like looking beyond the veil.  And what is the customary thing woman wear at funerals?
Veils, right?

Could it be that Nicholas of Cusa also also believed in the survival of the soul after transition?  Look at the last line of the above quote for a possible answer:
…but it is that very darkness which reveals your face is there, beyond all veils.

Interpreting that line as I would I see:
Your face equals a life and all veils equal transition.  So my faith based translation would read:
But it is that very darkness which reveals your life is there beyond all transition.

Once again my faith tells me there is no death.
Death is simply a transition.

My faith tells me we come back over and over.

That our lives are simply lessons to learn and with each life we lead we grow closer to God, to the Divine, until comes a time when we can choose to return or not.  Who knows when that time comes, but until we reach that point, we MUST return.

I’m with Nicholas of Cusa:
I believe it is that very darkness which reveals your life is there beyond all all veils.

What do you believe?  I’d love to hear in the comments.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Once you realize that life is eternal,
That our souls our eternal,
That we return to light and physical over and over;

We then lose all our distress
We then lose all our fear of dying.  For there truly is no end.
